Submission Guidelines

FIVE WINNERS WILL ENTER INTO THE EXPERIMENT

THE EXPERIMENT INCLUDES PROFESSIONAL MENTORSHIP AND AN OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE THEIR PROJECT GREENLIT AT A $50,000 BUDGET ($25,000 IN PRODUCTION FINANCING AND $25,000 IN KIND POST PRODUCTION AND FINISHING SERVICES)

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

In order to apply for The Experiment, you must submit the following Submission Materials per Project:

Either: 

  1. A properly formatted original screenplay, with a sixty (60) minute minimum runtime; or 
  1. A “proof of concept” that includes (i) a treatment and (ii) supplemental visual materials such as a presentation tape, storyboard, look-book, ripomatic, animation or other visual representation of the Project that, together with the treatment, demonstrate the story and characters of the Project in a manner sufficient to replace the contents of a screenplay with a sixty (60) minute minimum runtime;

A log-line and accurate synopsis of the Project;

A description of the Project’s main characters;

A production plan that demonstrates how the Project can be produced and executed through the director’s cut of the Project for a $25,000 production budget and $25,000 in in kind post production services.  The plan must also demonstrate how the Project can be produced safely with social distancing and COVID-19 guidelines in mind and in compliance with all applicable laws, rules and ordinances; and

A personal social impact statement detailing the Project’s alignment with Wayfarer’s ethos, why the underlying story should be told in this current climate, and/or its potential social impact.

A brief biography of the Entrant(s) submitting the Project.

Entrants must be able to work legally in the United States as of June 22, 2020 and upon request by Sponsor provide valid evidence of such ability (eg. Labor permits or Visas) prior to being eligible to participate in the Six Feet Apart Experiment.

Entrants must be 18 years or older at the time of entry.

Entrant may be an individual or a team of up to four (4) persons who each qualify individually to apply for the Experiment pursuant to its Terms and Conditions and all applicable law. Any such Entrant Team shall constitute a single Entrant for all purposes of the Contest (including without limitation judging, selection of winners and prizes). An Entrant may not submit more than three (3) Projects to the Contest.

No purchase is necessary to enter this Contest. 

This Contest is not a game of chance and is skills based. All material is reviewed by industry professionals.

All winners are subjectively determined by our judges.

Submission Materials must be in the form required by the Contest’s Official Terms and Conditions.

By submitting Submission Materials, Entrant is acknowledging that he/she has secured all necessary rights in the Submission Materials for each Project that’s being submitted.

Entrant must not be a member of the Writer’s Guild of America (WGA), unless Entrant has obtained a valid waiver from the WGA to participate in the Contest or obtains such a waiver within 10 days of receiving notification that Entrant is a finalist in the Contest. Entrant will not be eligible to receive any prize unless such a waiver is obtained within such required timeframe. Sponsor is not responsible for, and will not assist or participate in any way, in the obtaining of any such waivers.

Employees of Wayfarer Entertainment LLC, Wayfarer Studios LLC, any of their respective parents, promotional partners, affiliates or subsidiaries (whether permanent or temporary), and any of their respective immediate family members and/or those living in the same household, are not eligible to participate in the Contest. Contest judges and mentors and any of their respective immediate family members and/or those living in the same household, are not eligible to participate in the Contest.

Entrants must submit Submission Materials online and agree to the Official Terms and Conditions, which includes a Submission Release.
